Welcome

The Intelligent Systems and Bioinformatics Laboratory (ISBL)

The ISBL focuses on research in artificial intelligence, machine learning and data mining techniques applied to bioinformatics. In particular, the lab has publications in data analysis of microarray data, supervised learning (as such and applied to quantitative protein expression data) and data mining and analysis of gene expression data. The ISBL laboratory designed and implemented the Onto-Tools suite of data analysis tools: Onto-Express, Onto-Compare, Onto-Design and Onto-Translate. Currently, our laboratory is supported by grants from the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, US Medical Research and Materiel Command, Michigan Life Science Corridor and Sun Microsystems. Dr. Sorin Draghici, the head of the ISBL laboratory, is an associate professor in the Department of Computer Science, Institute for Scientific Computing and the Scientific Director of the Bioinformatics Core of Wayne State University.
