Checking for Java plug-in and Java
Windows:
Netscape: - For Netscape 6.x, Java (JRE 1.3) is installed under the "Complete" or "Custom" Install option of the installer. For Netscape 7.x, Java is included in the installer. Thus for Netscape users on Windows, browser will support Java applet unless java is explicitly removed.
You can check if Java is installed on your machine if Java Console is enabled. Java Console can be checked from your browser by clicking the "Task-->Tools-->Java Console" (for Netscape 6.x) or "Tools-->Web Development-->Java Console".
Internet Explorer: - For Internet Explorer, Java is included in the installer. Thus for Internet Explorer users on Windows, browser will support Java applet unless java is explicitly removed.
You can check if Java is installed on your machine by clicking "Tools-->Internet Option-->Advanced" and looking for Java (Sun) check box if checked.
If you want to install java on your machine, please download jre and follow installation instructions.
Linux:
Netscape and Mozilla: - The user can check if Java plug-ins are installed from the browser by clicking "Help-->About Plug-ins". This will show all the plug-ins which are supported by the browser.
